01 · Why GPS

Why Choose GPS in Rockford

Help for a Crow River city on the Wright–Hennepin county line, where the county involved decides which jail and court records to check.

  • Rockford Bail Assistance

Rockford has no police department of its own; the Wright and Hennepin County Sheriff's Offices serve their portions of the city. GPS helps you work out which one — and which county's records — apply.

  • Available 24/7

Call (763) 288-2581 or send the form any time. GPS is available around the clock; jail, court and city offices keep their own hours.

  • Sheriff, Jail & Court Guidance

A Rockford case may run through the Wright County Jail and court in Buffalo, or through Hennepin County's jail and courts in Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center. We explain the difference.

  • Clear Premium & Paperwork Guidance

We explain court-set bail versus a filed surety premium, how much must be collected before posting, receipts and every agreement before you sign.

  • Eligible Surety Bond Assistance

When a court authorizes a bond and underwriting is met, GPS can discuss surety options and any qualifying payment terms. Not every case or signer qualifies.

  • Minnesota Statewide Coverage

Whether the case lands in Wright County, Hennepin County or elsewhere, GPS can help with that jail and court. GPS has no office in Rockford.

02 · Bail process

How Bail Bonds Work in Rockford

The usual path after a Rockford arrest. Every case is different; the court makes the decisions and no release time is guaranteed.

  1. 01

    Step 1 of 6

    Arrest or Citation in Rockford

Depending on where it happened, a Wright County or Hennepin County deputy — or another agency such as the State Patrol — may respond. The result can be a citation, a summons or a custodial arrest.

  2. 02

    Step 2 of 6

    Confirm Agency and Custody Facility

The city name alone doesn't tell you the jail. Find out which agency made the arrest and whether the person was booked into Wright County Jail, Hennepin County Jail, or released.

  3. 03

    Step 3 of 6

    Verify Court-Set Bail and Conditions

The district court handling the case — Wright or Hennepin — sets money bail and release conditions. Confirm the county and case through official records.

  4. 04

    Step 4 of 6

    Contact GPS About Bond Options

Call (763) 288-2581. Once custody and the court's terms are known, GPS can explain whether an authorized surety bond is available.

  5. 05

    Step 5 of 6

    Complete Bond Requirements

Expect the approved premium, a receipt, identification, a signed indemnity agreement and, where required, a cosigner, collateral and underwriting review.

  6. 06

    Step 6 of 6

Post the Bond and Follow the Court

An approved bond must be accepted and processed by the facility holding the person. After release, every court date and condition must be followed.

04 · Services

Bail Bond Services in Rockford

These statewide GPS guides explain how bail works for each charge in Minnesota — useful whether a Rockford case is in Wright or Hennepin County. They are not a ranking of local offenses.

Not every charge is eligible for bail, and no amounts are guaranteed — the court decides in each case.

05 · Costs

What Bail Bonds Cost in Rockford

Rockford has no separate city bail premium schedule. The district court handling the case — Wright County or Hennepin County — determines monetary bail and release conditions, while Minnesota's filed-rate and statutory rules govern commercial surety premiums statewide.

Court-Set Bail vs. Bond Premium

The court sets the bail amount. Paying it directly in cash is one option. A surety bond instead costs a premium — a fee paid to the bail bond agency that is not returned at the end of the case.
Minnesota Criminal Procedure Rule 6 (opens an external site)

Filed Surety Rates & Minimum Upfront Payment

Under Minn. Stat. §60M.02, premiums follow rates filed with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Bonds of $10,000 or less require at least 50% of the premium collected before posting; bonds greater than $10,000 require at least 30% collected before posting. Any unpaid premium balance requires the applicable approved, signed promissory note and the statutory repayment terms. The statutory minimum premium remains $100.
Minnesota §60M.02 — Bail Bond Premiums (opens an external site)

Promissory Note & Repayment

Any unpaid premium balance is put in writing, with a payment schedule and any allowed interest. The signer is responsible for that balance regardless of how the case ends. The same §60M.02 rules above govern premium payment.

Collateral & Cosigner Responsibilities

Some bonds require collateral or a cosigner. Minn. Stat. §60M.03 governs how collateral is held and returned. A cosigner may owe the full bond if the defendant misses court.

06 · Jails & custody

Rockford Jails & Custody Information

Rockford spans Wright and Hennepin counties and relies on each county's Sheriff's Office for its portion. Don't assume a Rockford arrest means Buffalo — or Minneapolis. The incident location, arresting agency and booking record decide which jail and court apply.

  • Locating a Rockford Arrestee

Start by confirming the county. For Wright County custody, check the Sheriff's Jail Census, then call 763-684-2381. For Hennepin County, use the Hennepin jail roster or call the number below. Rockford City Hall cannot confirm custody.

    Hennepin County Jail information: 612-348-5112

  • County Jail Booking

Booking — at Wright County Jail in Buffalo or Hennepin County Jail in Minneapolis, depending on the case — involves identification, photographs and records processing, so a recent arrest may not appear right away. A citation or summons does not automatically mean someone was booked.

  • Official Inmate Search

The Sheriff's jail page links the Jail Census (people currently held), the Jail Media Report (recent bookings — some may already be released), weekly booking data and the in-custody court calendar. They are different records and are not refreshed continuously. GPS is independent of them and cannot change them. Wright County's reports do not cover Hennepin County custody; Hennepin County publishes its own jail roster. Jail records, court records and warrant information are separate systems.

  • Bail and Release Conditions

The court handling the case — Wright County District Court or Hennepin County District Court — may release someone on conditions, set money bail, or both. Conditions such as no-contact or no-alcohol terms still apply after a bond is posted.

  • Cash Bail vs. Surety Bond

Cash bail paid to the county is different from a surety premium paid to GPS. Each county jail has its own procedure for direct cash bail — confirm the bail amount, conditions and payment rules with the facility actually holding the person. Those procedures do not define how GPS accepts payment.

  • Probation and Other Holds

A warrant, probation hold or another county's case can keep someone in custody after bail is posted on the Rockford case. See our Warrant and Probation Violation guides.

  • Court dates

    Court Appearance Information

Rockford cases can be filed in Wright County (Tenth Judicial District, Buffalo) or Hennepin County (Fourth Judicial District — Brookdale for applicable suburban nonfelony matters, downtown Minneapolis for many felonies). The court handling the case decides release conditions. Confirm the filing court and hearing details through official sources such as Minnesota Court Records Online — it is a court-record system, not a live jail roster, and calendars can change or omit confidential proceedings. Release paperwork lists the next court date, and every appearance is required.

09 · About

About Rockford, Minnesota

  • Rockford grew up around a historic city center on the Crow River, with Main Street at the heart of its municipal identity.
  • The city lies in both Wright and Hennepin counties, so the county line runs through the community.
  • Law enforcement comes from the Wright County Sheriff's Office and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, each for its own portion of the city.
