02 · Calendars & hearing dates
Wright County Court Calendars & Hearing Information
How to find a scheduled Wright County hearing, check a court date and keep track of changes. Your official court notice and Court Administration are always the final word on a case-specific appearance.
Find the Official Court Calendar
The Minnesota Judicial Branch lists two Wright County calendars on the official court page: the Wright County Weekly Public Court Calendar and a separate District Referee Weekly Public Court Calendar. The court says:
- Calendars are posted at 7:00 AM each business day.
- They're updated hourly through the day.
- Hearings, judges and courtrooms can change.
- They don't include every matter the court handles.
Verify a Scheduled Court Appearance
Court Administration: 763-760-6300
Your hearing notice, court orders and Court Administration are the authoritative sources for your appearance requirements. Confirm:
- Hearing date and time
- Case number
- In-person or remote format
- Assigned hearing location
- The judge's or notice's instructions
A missing search result is not proof that a hearing was canceled.
Minnesota Court Records Online
MCRO provides public Wright County case information, available documents and hearing information. You can search by case number, citation number, attorney name or bar number, and other permitted criteria.
A pending criminal case won't appear in a defendant-name search — you'll need the case number, citation number, attorney name or attorney bar number.
Remote Court Hearings
Minnesota courts hold some hearings remotely under a statewide hearings policy. Your hearing notice says whether to appear in person at the Justice Center or remotely — use only the instructions the court gives you.
- Not every criminal hearing is remote.
- If you ask to appear a different way and don't hear back before the hearing, appear as your notice states.
Hearing eReminders
Parties in eligible cases can sign up for free text or email hearing reminders from the Minnesota Judicial Branch.
- Reminders are optional and don't replace your official notice.
- Not receiving a reminder doesn't excuse missing court.
Rescheduling & Calendar Changes
Court Administration: 763-760-6300
Only the court can change a hearing. If you can't attend, contact your attorney or Court Administration right away.
- Asking for a continuance doesn't mean it's approved.
- An unanswered message doesn't excuse an appearance — the original requirement still applies until the court changes it.
What If Your Wright County Court Date Does Not Appear?
Not finding a hearing on the Wright County calendar or in MCRO doesn't mean it was canceled. Common reasons include:
- The calendar hasn't been updated yet.
- The hearing was changed.
- The matter is restricted from public display.
- The search used incomplete details.
- A different notice or official record applies.
- Only Court Administration can confirm it.
Do not assume a required hearing has been canceled because it is missing from an online calendar.

Criminal Court Proceedings in Wright County
How criminal cases move through Wright County District Court and where bail decisions fit in. For booking and custody at the jail itself, see our Wright County Jail Guide.
Criminal Charges & Case Filing
A criminal case starts with a citation issued by an officer or a complaint from the prosecuting authority. Cases may follow an investigation, a citation or an arrest and a charging decision; Wright County District Court handles the cases filed in Wright County.
A criminal charge is not a conviction.
First Court Appearance
A first appearance may include:
- Advisement of the charges
- An explanation of rights
- Review of legal representation
- Bail and release review, where applicable
- Scheduling of future proceedings
Bail isn't necessarily set or changed at every first appearance.
Bail & Release Conditions
The court — a judge or an applicable court order — decides criminal bail and release conditions, which can include appearance requirements and other restrictions. A GPS bail agent cannot:
- Set or change the bail amount
- Change a judge's decision
- Remove another agency's hold
- Reschedule a hearing
- Guarantee release
Hearings & Case Progress
Depending on the case, there may be more hearings — pretrial or omnibus hearings, evidence issues, trial, sentencing or other case-specific events.
Every case is different; there's no fixed timeline for resolution.
Attorneys & Public Defenders
Financially eligible defendants facing qualifying criminal charges can apply for a public defender, including online. The judge decides whether someone qualifies, and the person learns the result before the case proceeds.
GPS Bail Bonds is not a law firm and does not provide criminal defense.
Failure to Appear & Warrants
Missing a required court appearance can have serious consequences:
- An arrest warrant
- Changed release conditions
- Bond-related consequences
- Additional court proceedings
GPS can't remove a warrant or obtain a continuance — contact your attorney or the court right away.
Before Your Wright County Court Appearance

- Prepare the documents you need.
- Ask your attorney any legal questions.
- Follow every current court order.

Wright County Court Records & Services
Where to find Wright County court records and court services, with direct official links. Each service has its own process — none of them replaces a hearing notice or posts bail.
Search Public Court Records
Minnesota Court Records Online lets you search public Wright County cases, documents, hearings and judgments.
- Pending criminal cases don't return in defendant-name searches.
- Confidential, sealed or restricted matters won't appear publicly.
Certified Copies, Records & Transcripts
Some public documents are available online. Plain (uncertified) copies have no fee; certified copies generally cost $14 per document unless fees are waived. Transcripts are requested separately and paid for by the requester.
- Not every request is same-day.
- Some records aren't available from Court Administration at all.
Fines, Fees & Citation Payments
Payable citations and criminal fines are paid through the Minnesota Judicial Branch — online, by phone through the Court Payment Center, or at the Court Administration counter. Court Administration no longer takes card payments for fines over the phone.
- Paying a citation fine can be a guilty plea and a waiver of your rights — read the court's information first.
- A fine is not bail or a bond premium, and paying one doesn't release anyone from custody.

- Staff provide legal information, not legal advice.
Interpreters & Accessibility
People with limited English and people who are deaf or hard of hearing can request a court interpreter, and people with disabilities can request an accommodation, through the Judicial Branch. Contact Court Administration well before your hearing to arrange it.
GPS does not provide court-certified interpreters.

05 · Bail, release & court responsibilities
Wright County Court Bail & Release Information
The court decides bail and release conditions; the jail takes direct cash bail and processes release. Here's how a Wright County court's bail decision connects to posting bail or a bond — and why court obligations continue afterward.
Who Determines Bail & Release Conditions?
The court does. A judge or an applicable court order sets criminal bail and any release conditions in a Wright County case. Not every defendant receives a bail amount right away, and Court Administration, jail staff and GPS can't set or change it.
Court-Set Bail vs. Bond Premium
Four different things:The bail amount the court sets.Direct cash bail — the full amount, paid at the jail.A commercial surety bond, posted by a licensed bail bond company. The premium charged for that surety bond.
Where Direct Cash Bail Is Posted
Cash bail goes to Wright County Jail reception — not Wright County District Court. The Sheriff's Office says to first verify the conditions and the required bail amount with the jail, then bring the correct cash amount to jail reception, and not to give your cash to a third party.Wright County Jail3800 Braddock Avenue NEBuffalo, MN 55313Jail: 763-684-2381Sheriff's Office bail FAQ (opens an official external site)Official Wright County Jail page (opens an official external site)
Release Conditions & Future Court Dates
Posting bail or a permitted bond doesn't end court obligations. The defendant must still attend every scheduled appearance and follow all court orders and release conditions. Release timing depends on jail authorization and processing — no time is guaranteed.
After the Court Sets Bail — What Happens Next?
General information only — the court and the jail make every bail, custody and release decision.
- Confirm the official court-set amount and conditions.
- Find out whether cash bail or a surety bond is allowed.
- Verify which facility is holding the person.
- Complete the payment or bond process.
- Wait for authorized release processing.
- Follow every future court obligation.
Minnesota Bond Premium Rules
- The court sets the bail amount — not the jail and not GPS.
- The premium follows the rate the surety has filed and had approved in Minnesota.
- The statutory minimum premium is $100.
- Bonds of $10,000 or less: at least 50% of the premium is collected before posting; any balance is repaid within four months.
- Bonds over $10,000: at least 30% of the premium is collected before posting; any balance is repaid within at most 12 months.
- Any balance needs a signed promissory note. No financing or payment plan is guaranteed.
- Collateral and cosigner requirements depend on the circumstances.
