02 · Calendars & hearing dates
Sherburne County Court Calendars & Hearing Information
How to find a scheduled hearing, check a court date and keep track of changes. The official court notice and Court Administration are always the final word on a case-specific appearance.
Find the Official Court Calendar
The Minnesota Judicial Branch posts Sherburne County's public court calendar as a searchable PDF — search it for your name or your attorney's name. The court says:
- It's posted at 7:00 AM each business day.
- It's updated hourly through the day.
- Hearings, judge and courtroom assignments can change.
- It doesn't include every matter the court handles.
Verify a Scheduled Court Appearance
Your hearing notice, court orders and Court Administration are the authoritative sources for your appearance requirements. A public listing may not show every proceeding. Check:
- Case number
- Hearing date and scheduled time
- Courtroom or remote-hearing instructions
- Your official court notice
A missing search result is not proof that a hearing was canceled.
Minnesota Court Records Online
MCRO provides public case information, available documents and hearing information. You can search by case number, citation number, attorney name or bar number, and other permitted criteria.
A pending criminal case won't appear in a defendant-name search — you'll need the case number, citation number, attorney name or attorney bar number.
Remote Court Hearings
Minnesota courts hold some hearings remotely under a statewide hearings policy. Your hearing notice says whether to appear in person or remotely — use only the instructions the court gives you.
- Not every criminal hearing is remote.
- You can ask the judge to appear a different way; if you don't hear back before the hearing, appear as your notice states.
Hearing eReminders
Parties in eligible cases can sign up for free text or email hearing reminders from the Minnesota Judicial Branch — usually three days and one day before the hearing.
- Reminders are optional and don't replace your official notice.
- Not receiving a reminder doesn't excuse missing court.
Rescheduling & Calendar Changes
Court Administration: 763-284-7140
Only the court can change a hearing. If you can't attend, contact your attorney or Court Administration right away for guidance.
- Asking for a continuance doesn't mean it's approved.
- Until the court authorizes a change, the original appearance requirement may still apply.
What If Your Sherburne County Court Date Does Not Appear?
Not finding a hearing on the public calendar or in MCRO doesn't mean it was canceled. Common reasons include:
- The calendar hasn't been updated yet.
- The hearing was changed.
- The matter isn't publicly displayed.
- The search used incomplete identifying information.
- The case has restricted public access.
- A different official source or court notice applies.
Do not assume your hearing is canceled simply because it is absent from the public calendar.

Criminal Charges & Case Filing
A criminal case starts with a citation issued by an officer or a complaint from the prosecuting authority. Cases may follow an investigation, citation or arrest and a charging decision.
A criminal charge is not a conviction.
First Court Appearance
A first appearance may include:
- Advisement of the charges
- An explanation of rights
- Review of legal representation
- Release decisions, where applicable
- Scheduling of future proceedings
The exact steps depend on the case and the rules that apply.
Bail & Release Conditions
A judge — or an applicable court order — decides criminal bail and release conditions, which can include appearance requirements and other restrictions. GPS Bail Bonds cannot:
- Set the bail amount
- Change a court order
- Waive a hearing
- Remove another agency's hold
- Guarantee release
Hearings & Case Progress
Depending on the case, there may be more hearings — pretrial or omnibus hearings, evidentiary hearings, trial, sentencing or other appearances.
Every case and court schedule is different; there's no fixed timeline.
Attorneys & Public Defenders
Legal representation matters. The Minnesota Judicial Branch explains how eligible defendants can apply for a public defender, including an online application; the court sends an order saying whether one is appointed.
GPS Bail Bonds is not a law firm and does not provide criminal defense.
Failure to Appear & Warrants
Missing a required court appearance can have serious consequences — possibly an arrest warrant, changed release conditions or consequences for a bond. If you expect to miss a hearing, contact your attorney or the court right away.
GPS can't cancel a warrant or reschedule a hearing.
Before Your Sherburne County Court Appearance
General information only. A bail bond company can't give legal advice — talk to your attorney.
- Review the official court notice.
- Confirm the date, time and hearing format.
- Verify the correct court location.
- Prepare the documents you need.
- Ask your attorney any legal questions.
- Follow every existing court order.

Sherburne County Court Records & Services
Where to find court records and court services, with direct official links. Each service has its own process — none of them replaces a hearing notice or posts bail.
Search Public Court Records
Minnesota Court Records Online lets you search public cases, documents, hearings and judgments. Courthouse public access terminals offer the most complete access.
- Pending criminal cases don't return in defendant-name searches.
- Confidential, sealed or restricted matters won't appear publicly.
Copies, Certified Records & Transcripts
Some public documents are available online. Plain copies at the courthouse are free; certified copies carry a fee. Transcripts are prepared on request and paid for by the requester.
- Some records are stored off-site, so not every request is same-day.
- Mail requests go to Sherburne County Court Administration — allow five days.
Court Fines, Fees & Citations
Citation payments, court fees and other court-ordered financial obligations are handled through the Minnesota Judicial Branch — not GPS Bail Bonds.
- Paying a citation fine is generally a guilty plea — read the court's information first.
- A fine is not bail, and paying one doesn't release anyone from custody.

Self-Help Center: 763-760-6699
Free legal information for people without a lawyer, at the Court Administration window. Walk-in hours are Tuesday, 8:30–11:30 AM and 1:30–3:00 PM, subject to staffing.
- Call first to confirm it's open.
- Staff provide legal information, not legal advice.
Interpreters & Accessibility
People with limited English and people who are deaf or hard of hearing have a right to a court interpreter or accommodation at no cost. Contact Court Administration well before your hearing to arrange it.
GPS does not provide court-certified interpreters.

05 · Bail, release & court responsibilities
Sherburne County Court Bail & Release Information
The court decides bail and release conditions; the jail takes cash bail and processes release. Here's how a court's bail decision connects to posting bail or a bond — and why court obligations continue afterward.
Who Determines Bail & Release Conditions?
The court does. Under Sherburne County's court bail standards, some offenses allow release on posted bail; for others, a person stays in custody until a judge decides bail or conditions. Not every defendant receives a cash bail amount right away.
Court-Set Bail vs. Bond Premium
Four different things:The bail amount the court sets.Direct cash bail — the full amount, paid at the jail.A commercial surety bond, posted by a licensed bail bond company. The premium charged for that surety bond.
Where Direct Cash Bail Is Posted
Cash bail is posted at the jail — not at Court Administration. Release Conditions & Future Court Dates
Posting bail or a permitted bond doesn't end court obligations. The defendant must still attend every scheduled appearance and follow all court orders, release conditions and other legal requirements. Release timing depends on jail authorization and processing — no time is guaranteed.
After the Court Sets Bail — What Happens Next?
General information only — the court and the jail make every bail, custody and release decision.
- Confirm the official court-set amount and conditions.
- Find out whether cash bail or a surety bond is allowed.
- Verify which facility is holding the person.
- Complete the payment or bond process.
- Wait for authorized release processing.
- Follow every future court obligation.
Minnesota Bond Premium Rules
- The court sets the bail amount — not the jail and not GPS.
- The premium follows the rate the surety has filed and had approved in Minnesota.
- The statutory minimum premium is $100.
- Bonds of $10,000 or less: at least 50% of the premium is collected before posting; any balance is repaid within four months.
- Bonds over $10,000: at least 30% of the premium is collected before posting; any balance is repaid within at most 12 months.
- Any balance needs a signed promissory note. No financing or payment plan is guaranteed.
- Collateral and cosigner requirements depend on the circumstances.
