Government-operated facility
Official Anoka County Jail Information
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office operates the Anoka County Jail, a 238-bed correctional facility that primarily houses nonsentenced adults. It is the county's main booking and intake facility — and a booking is not a finding of guilt. The county also operates a separate Workhouse for eligible sentenced adults, so always confirm which facility actually holds the person.

Jail Custody Inquiries
Jail Division: 763-324-5100
Jail Division staff are the right contact for questions about a specific person's custody, booking or processing. The county's Inmate Locator shows public custody information, but it may not reflect every current circumstance.
Sheriff's Office Administration
Anoka County Sheriff's Office13301 Hanson Boulevard NWAndover, MN 55304General: 763-324-5000

- Office hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Anoka County Workhouse
Anoka County WorkhouseRum River Human Services Center — Vail Building3300 4th Avenue N.Anoka, MN 55303Workhouse Operations: 763-324-4860

Official Jail & Release Resources
Each official source answers a different question — and none replaces confirming current payment or release instructions:
- Jail operations — the Sheriff's Jail page.
- Sentenced placements and work release — the Workhouse page.
- Who is held now, at either facility — the Inmate Locator.
- Hearings, cases and bail decisions — District Court.
02 · Booking & custody
Anoka County Jail Booking & Custody Information
What happens at the facility after an arrest — from booking to release. For step-by-step help with the county's Inmate Locator, see our Anoka County inmate search guide.
Arrest & Jail Booking
A person arrested by a law-enforcement agency in the county may be booked into Anoka County Jail when legally appropriate. Booking takes time, no booking time is guaranteed, and an arrest or booking is not a conviction.
- Identification.
- Custody screening.
- Booking.
- Review of any applicable orders.
Confirming Someone Is in Custody
The county's Inmate Locator covers both the Jail and the Workhouse. It also lists people released in the previous 30 days — a released listing is not proof someone is still held.
Read our inmate search guide →Booking Records vs. Court Records
Custody records show whether someone is reported at a correctional facility. Court records cover cases, hearings, orders and related public documents. A pending case doesn't mean someone is in jail now, and a custody listing doesn't mean guilt.
Other Agency Holds & Transfers
Actual custody can differ from the first booking location. The county's locator notes that people at the Jail and the Workhouse may be transferred to another jail to relieve overcrowding.
- Another warrant or hold may apply.
- A person may be moved to another county jail.
- Other agencies may keep the relevant records.
Jail vs. Workhouse Custody
The two facilities do different jobs:
- Jail — mainly nonsentenced adults: booking, detention and authorized release.
- Workhouse — mainly sentenced adults in minimum security, with approved programs and work release.
- A Workhouse sentence isn't the same as ordinary pretrial cash-bail eligibility.
Release Authorization & Processing
Release depends on court and other legal authority. Where authorized, bail or a surety bond may need to be accepted, other holds can affect release, and correctional staff must finish their own procedures. Sentenced Workhouse residents have different release considerations, and no processing time is guaranteed.
What If Someone Is Not Listed at Anoka County Jail?
Not finding a name in the Inmate Locator — which covers the Jail, the Workhouse and people released in the past 30 days — doesn't prove the person was never arrested. Common reasons include:
- The booking hasn't appeared online yet.
- The person was cited and released.
- The person was released earlier.
- Another agency or jail has custody.
- The person was transferred.
- Public-access or identifying-information limits apply.
Check the Inmate Locator again, call the Jail Division, or contact GPS and we'll help you work out where to check next.

03 · Visitation & communication
Anoka County Jail Visitation & Communication
Social visits at Anoka County Jail are video visits — on-site at the jail or remote through ICSolutions — and must be scheduled in advance. The Workhouse runs its own virtual visits through a different provider. Confirm current rules before you travel.
On-Site Video Visitation
Approved friends and family can schedule on-site video visits at the jail. These are video visits, not open contact visits, and current eligibility and facility rules apply.
- Arrive no more than five minutes before your scheduled visit.
- Don't wait or gather in the jail lobby.
- Don't plan on a walk-in visit.
Remote Video Visitation
Off-site video visits at the jail run through ICSolutions, the county's provider, for a fee.
- Schedule through ICSolutions at least 24 hours ahead.
- Provider fees apply.
- Follow current facility and provider instructions.
- Visits may be monitored and recorded.
- This is the Jail's system — Workhouse visits use Inmate Canteen instead.
Scheduling & Visit Duration
The county's Visiting Rules say:
- Schedule at least 24 hours before the visit.
- You can schedule up to one week ahead.
- One 20-minute visit per day per incarcerated person.
- Visits start and end exactly at the scheduled times.
- All visits are monitored and recorded.
- Staff can change or cancel visits for safety or security.
Visiting Hours & Facility Rules
Available appointments depend on the jail's visiting schedule, security needs and the provider's system — the county doesn't post fixed daily visiting hours on these pages. Check the official pages for current conduct and dress rules.
- Attorneys, probation officers and other officers of the court may visit with valid professional ID, under separate protocols.
Jail Inmate Telephone Calls
ICSolutions support: 888-506-8407
ICSolutions is the Jail Division's telephone provider. The county says incarcerated people can generally place calls from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
- The first call at booking is generally free; later nonprofessional calls cost money.
- People in custody generally can't receive incoming calls.
Messages, Voicemail & Monitoring
Inmate voicemail: 763-575-8506
ICSolutions support: 888-506-8407
You can leave a voice message for someone at the jail, and family can set up a prepaid ICSolutions phone account.
- A recorded prompt tells you how to accept or decline a call.
- Phone and message privileges follow facility rules.
- Urgent incoming messages are passed on only at the jail's discretion, after verification.
- To block unwanted calls, use the call prompts or the duty sergeant line, 763-324-5106 — not a custody line.
04 · Inmate services
Anoka County Jail Inmate Services & Resources
Money, mail, property and programs work differently at the Jail and the Workhouse, and each has its own rules and providers. None of them is a way to pay bail.
Commissary & Inmate Accounts
The jail's commissary provider is Turnkey Corrections / Inmate Canteen. Account funds can be used for:
- Commissary purchases.
- Food and hygiene items, delivered Tuesdays and Fridays.
- Phone calls and vending items.
- These funds can't be used to pay criminal bail.
Adding Money to an Inmate Account
Two approved ways to fund a jail account:
- Online through an Inmate Canteen family and friends account.
- The jail lobby kiosk — cash and credit/debit cards, open to the public 7:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., seven days a week.
- These are commissary deposit hours, not cash-bail hours.
- Website problems: ICCSupport@tkc32m.com.
Sending Mail & Correspondence
Anoka County Jail325 E. Jackson StreetAnoka, MN 55303New incoming-mail guidelines took effect March 1, 2026. Mail is scanned and inspected, and people in custody don't receive the originals. Address jail mail to the inmate's full name at:
- No more than five pieces per mailing; photos no larger than 4×6; nothing larger than 8½×11.
- No cash, checks, money orders or gift cards.
- Legal mail follows a separate procedure.
- Workhouse letters go to: Resident's name, Anoka County Corrections, Anoka County Workhouse, 2100 3rd Ave STE C100, Anoka, MN 55303-5037.
Property & Personal Items
The jail can release an inmate's property to family or friends once the inmate completes a property transfer naming the recipient.
- Bring a government-issued photo ID.
- Pickup: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., or during scheduled visiting hours.
- Allow up to 48 hours for processing.
- Property release isn't bail, a commissary deposit or release from custody.
- The Workhouse may handle property differently.
Medical Needs, Accessibility & Safety
The Jail and the Workhouse each have their own medical, safety and accommodation procedures. Raise urgent concerns with staff at the facility holding the person.
- Anoka County Corrections publishes PREA resources and keeps a zero-tolerance policy on sexual abuse and misconduct.
- Those PREA resources are Community Corrections' (including the Workhouse) — not every Jail Division procedure.
- For an immediate emergency, call 911.
Workhouse Work Release & Programs
Workhouse: 763-324-4860
The Workhouse runs its own programs and rules:
- Work release (Huber) — court authorization, verified employment and facility approval.
- GED / high-school equivalency instruction.
- Chemical-dependency support groups and religious services.
- Supervised work crews for eligible unemployed residents.
- Personal visits are virtual through Turnkey / Inmate Canteen; professional visits may be in person.
- Its mailing address differs from its physical location. No program is guaranteed or replaces bail.

05 · Bail & release
Posting Bail at Anoka County Jail
In Minnesota, the court sets bail and release conditions, and Minnesota Statutes Chapter 60M governs commercial bond premiums. Anoka County doesn't publish one complete cash-bail payment procedure online, so confirm the details for each case before you travel.
Court-Set Bail & Release Conditions
The court or other authorized legal authority sets bail and release conditions. Some people are released without financial bail; others have specific court-imposed conditions. GPS can't set, change or override them, and not every arrest leads to a commercial bail option.
Where to Confirm Direct Cash Bail
Call the responsible office to confirm current, case-specific payment requirements. The Judicial Branch lists Court Bail & Bonds for District Court bail and bond inquiries. Confirm the authorized payment location and accepted methods before attempting payment.Anoka County Jail: 763-324-5100.Court Administration: 763-760-6700.Court Bail & Bonds: 763-760-6540.The jail's commissary kiosk does not take bail.Official court contacts (opens an official external site)
Cash Bail vs. Surety Bond
These are different things:Cash bail — the court-authorized amount, paid through the government's accepted procedure.Commercial surety bond — an authorized bond backed by an approved surety.Bond premium — the charge for surety services.Collateral — separate security, when required.Commissary deposits, restitution, Workhouse fees and phone funds don't satisfy bail.
Bond Processing & Other Holds
An eligible surety bond may require the premium, signed documents, an approved agent and surety, possible cosigner obligations and collateral, and acceptance by the facility or court. Release still needs authorization and processing, other holds or orders can prevent it, and Workhouse sentences have their own requirements. No release time or bond approval is guaranteed.
Before You Go to Anoka County Jail to Post Bail

- Confirm the person's actual custody facility.
- Verify the current court-set bail and conditions.
- Confirm whether direct cash bail or a surety bond is permitted.
- Verify the payment location, methods and required documents.
- Confirm any other holds or release restrictions.
- Understand that release processing can't be guaranteed.
Minnesota Bond Premium Rules
- The court sets the bail amount — not the jail and not GPS.
- The premium follows the rate the surety has filed and had approved in Minnesota.
- The statutory minimum premium is $100.
- Bonds of $10,000 or less: at least 50% of the premium is collected before posting; any balance is repaid within four months.
- Bonds over $10,000: at least 30% of the premium is collected before posting; any balance is repaid within at most 12 months.
- Any balance needs a signed promissory note. No financing or payment plan is guaranteed.
- Collateral and cosigner requirements depend on the circumstances.
