05
Eligible Surety Bond Assistance
When the court's order permits a surety bond and underwriting is met, GPS can discuss Minnesota bond options with you. Nothing is pre-approved, and GPS cannot change a court decision.
06
Minnesota Statewide Coverage
GPS serves eligible cases throughout Minnesota, subject to the agency holding the person and bond availability — useful when a Ramsey case involves Sherburne County to the west or another county.
The Ramsey Police Department — a City of Ramsey agency, not a Ramsey County one — the Minnesota State Patrol on Highway 10, an Anoka County Sheriff's deputy or another agency with jurisdiction may handle an arrest or citation. Some people are cited or released without being booked.

Step 2 of 6
Confirm Custody Through the Official Locator
Check the Anoka County Inmate Locator or call the Jail Division at 763-324-5100. A Ramsey arrest doesn't guarantee a booking at Anoka County Jail — and Ramsey County's jail records are the wrong place to start.

Step 3 of 6
Verify Court-Set Bail and Release Conditions
Anoka County District Court in Anoka, or another authorized legal authority, decides bail and release conditions. Court information is separate from the jail's custody records.

Complete Premium, Paperwork and Underwriting
Any required premium, signed agreement, cosigner or collateral arrangement is completed as Minnesota law and the surety's underwriting require, with a receipt for every payment.

Step 6 of 6
Post an Authorized Bond and Follow Court Requirements
The responsible authority processes an accepted bond and the release — GPS doesn't control that timing, and other holds can delay it. The defendant must attend every hearing and follow all court orders.
Statewide GPS guides for City of Ramsey families looking at bail options in an Anoka County case. The order is fixed and is not a ranking of local offenses.
Not every charge is eligible for bail, and no amounts are guaranteed — the court decides in each case.
05 · Costs
What Bail Bonds Cost in Ramsey
Ramsey does not have a separate city bail bond premium schedule. Anoka County District Court determines monetary bail and release conditions, while Minnesota's filed-rate and statutory rules govern commercial surety premiums statewide.
Court-Set Bail vs. Bond Premium
The court sets the bail amount. Paying it directly in cash is one option. A surety bond instead costs a premium — a fee paid to the bail bond agency that is not returned at the end of the case. Minnesota Criminal Procedure Rule 6 ↗ (opens an external site)
Filed Surety Rates & Minimum Upfront Payment
Under Minn. Stat. §60M.02, premiums follow rates filed with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Bonds of $10,000 or less require at least 50% of the premium collected before posting; bonds greater than $10,000 require at least 30% collected before posting. Any unpaid premium balance requires the applicable approved, signed promissory note and the statutory repayment terms. The statutory minimum premium remains $100. Minnesota §60M.02 — Bail Bond Premiums ↗ (opens an external site)
Promissory Note & Repayment
Any unpaid premium balance is put in writing, with a payment schedule and any allowed interest. The signer is responsible for that balance regardless of how the case ends. The same §60M.02 rules above govern premium payment.
Use the court-set bond amount from the jail or court.
Estimates are for informational purposes only and are not a binding quote or financing offer. Actual premiums are based on the applicable approved surety rate. Payment arrangements depend on eligibility, underwriting, and Minnesota law. Call GPS Bail Bonds for a case-specific quote.

The City of Ramsey is in Anoka County. It has its own police department at the municipal building on Sunwood Drive NW, while the Anoka County Jail and the Anoka County District Court are in the City of Anoka. Ramsey County's jail and courts in St. Paul are not part of a City of Ramsey case.

Ramsey Police Department
City of Ramsey (Anoka County) — not a Ramsey County agency
Ramsey City Hall7550 Sunwood Drive NWRamsey, MN 55303763-427-1410
Ramsey operates its own municipal police department, with office hours Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Officers may make arrests or issue citations, but the police office is not the county jail and its phone is not a custody hotline. For non-emergency police help, use the dispatch number; in an emergency, call 911.
Anoka County Workhouse (separate facility): 763-324-4860
The county's primary booking facility for City of Ramsey arrests is in the neighboring City of Anoka — not Ramsey County's jail in St. Paul. Operated by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office as the county's primary booking and intake facility; it mainly houses people who have not been sentenced. The Anoka County Workhouse (Rum River Human Services Center, 3300 4th Avenue N., Anoka) is a separate minimum-security facility mainly for sentenced adults — it is not where an initial booking happens.
Handles criminal and traffic matters filed in Anoka County, including applicable Ramsey cases. Judges decide bail and release conditions; GPS does not set bail amounts or hearing schedules. The Court Bail & Bonds line is for court bail questions — it is not an automatic phone-payment service, so confirm the authorized payment location and accepted methods first.
Start with the official Anoka County Inmate Locator — not Ramsey County's. A Ramsey Police arrest may end in a citation or release rather than a booking, and a person may already be out, not yet listed, or held on another agency's matter. If they aren't listed, call the Jail Division; the police office and City Hall are not booking desks.
02
County Jail Booking
An arrest and a jail booking are different events. Booking at Anoka County Jail involves identification, custody screening and records processing, so a recent arrest may not appear in the official locator right away. Someone cited or released without booking may never be listed, and no booking or first-appearance timeline is guaranteed.
03
Official Inmate Search
Anoka County's official Inmate Locator covers people currently held in the Jail or the Workhouse, plus people released from either facility in the past 30 days; some records note a transfer to another facility. A recent-release record does not mean the person is still in custody. GPS does not operate the locator or control custody data.
Court orders control release terms. Anoka County District Court may release someone without money bail, on conditions, with money bail, or a combination — so a commercial bond is not always needed. Conditions such as no-contact or no-alcohol terms still apply after any bond is posted. Someone serving a sentence at the Workhouse is not in an ordinary pretrial-bail situation.
05
Cash Bail vs. Surety Bond
Cash bail paid directly to the government, as the court authorizes, is different from a surety premium paid to a bail bond agency, which is not returned. GPS has not confirmed Anoka County's complete cash-bail payment procedure, so call the Jail Division (763-324-5100) or Court Bail & Bonds (763-760-6540) to confirm the authorized payment location and accepted methods before traveling. That procedure does not define how GPS accepts payment.
A warrant, another case, a probation-related restriction, a transfer or another county's hold can keep someone in custody after bail is posted on the Ramsey matter. GPS cannot remove those restrictions or promise an immediate release. See our Warrant and Probation Violation guides.
Court dates
Court Appearance Information
Anoka County District Court, at 2100 3rd Avenue in Anoka and part of the Tenth Judicial District, decides bail and release conditions for cases filed in Anoka County. Court records and the county's custody locator are separate systems: Minnesota Court Records Online shows certain case information and hearings, but it is not a jail roster or a complete warrant check, and some pending criminal name searches are restricted. Public calendars can change, so confirm each required appearance from official notices or with Court Administration at 763-760-6700. Missing a required hearing can lead to a warrant and other serious consequences.

Yes. Call (763) 288-2581 or use the form at any hour, including nights, weekends and holidays. GPS helps by phone and online from its Big Lake-area business location and has no Ramsey office.
Anoka County. The City of Ramsey shares a name with Ramsey County, but they are unrelated — Ramsey County is a separate county centered on St. Paul. City of Ramsey cases run through the Anoka County jail and the Anoka County District Court.
The Ramsey Police Department, the city's own municipal agency at 7550 Sunwood Drive NW (763-427-6812). It is a City of Ramsey department, not a Ramsey County agency. The State Patrol or the Anoka County Sheriff's Office may be involved in some cases.
When a Ramsey Police arrest leads to a booking, it is generally at Anoka County Jail, 325 Jackson Street in the neighboring City of Anoka — not Ramsey County's jail. Not every arrest ends in a booking, and a warrant from another county can mean a different facility.
No. Ramsey is a city, not a county. The county jail for City of Ramsey cases is Anoka County Jail in the City of Anoka, run by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. The Ramsey Police building is a police facility, not the county jail.
Use Anoka County's official Inmate Locator, which covers the Jail and the separate Workhouse plus releases from either in the past 30 days. A very recent booking may not show yet — call the Jail Division at 763-324-5100 if you can't find someone.
Anoka County District Court, in the Anoka County Courthouse at 2100 3rd Avenue in the City of Anoka (Tenth Judicial District, 763-760-6700). City of Ramsey cases are not heard by Ramsey County District Court in St. Paul.
Ask the Jail Division (763-324-5100) what is on record for someone in custody. For court-case bail questions, call Anoka County Court Administration (763-760-6700) or Court Bail & Bonds (763-760-6540) — that line is not an automatic phone-payment service. GPS cannot set or change bail.
No. Ramsey Police may cite and release someone, and Anoka County District Court may order release without money bail or on conditions alone. A surety bond only comes into play when the court sets money bail and allows a bond to be posted.
Cash bail is the full amount paid to the government, as the court authorizes, and can be returned subject to court rules. A surety bond costs a non-refundable premium paid to a bail bond agency, which then guarantees the full amount. GPS has not confirmed Anoka County's complete cash-bail procedure, so call the jail or Court Bail & Bonds first.
Sometimes. Premiums follow the surety's filed rate under §60M.02 ($100 minimum). At least 50% is collected before posting on bonds of $10,000 or less (balance within four months), and at least 30% on larger bonds (within twelve months), with a signed promissory note. Nothing is guaranteed.
Yes. A warrant or hold from another county — Sherburne, Hennepin, Ramsey County or elsewhere — can keep someone in custody even after bail is posted on the Ramsey case. GPS cannot remove a hold; ask the Jail Division which holds apply.
The responding agency depends on the exact location — Ramsey Police within the city, the State Patrol on Highway 10, or a neighboring agency nearby. West of Ramsey the highway enters Sherburne County, where a stop can involve Sherburne County's jail and court. Confirm the arresting agency first.
Anything you know: full legal name, date of birth or approximate age, that it happened in the City of Ramsey, the arresting agency, and any booking, charge, court or bail details. Gaps are fine — you don't need a booking number to ask for help.
