Jail Custody Inquiries
Jail Master Control: 763-689-2397
Sheriff's general line: 763-689-2141
Jail staff are the right contact for questions about a specific person's custody, booking or release processing. The Sheriff's general line handles other office questions.
- The Sheriff's Contact Us page lists 763-691-2397 for Master Control; the staff directory lists 763-689-2397. If one doesn't connect, try the other.
Sheriff's Office Administration
Isanti County Sheriff's Office2440 South Main StreetCambridge, MN 55008General line: 763-689-2141
The Sheriff's staff directory lists an administrative address on South Main Street. That's a separate address record from the jail — for visits and jail business, use the jail's 18th Avenue SW location.
Jail Operations & Programs
The Sheriff's Office runs the jail and its Work Release program. The jail's program coordinators arrange voluntary self-improvement opportunities, which the county says include:
- GED classes.
- Chemical-dependency treatment, plus AA and NA meetings.
- Nondenominational religious services.
- Not everyone qualifies for every program — the jail decides.
District Court Information
Isanti County District Court555 18th Avenue SWCambridge, MN 55008Court Administration: 763-290-7020

Official Jail & Release Resources
Each official source answers a different question:
- Jail operations, visits and programs — the county jail page.
- Who is held now — the In Custody list.
- Phone time and inmate accounts — the Inmate Funds page.
- Messages — the Inmate Voicemail page.
- Hearings, cases and bail decisions — the District Court.
02 · Booking & custody
Isanti County Jail Booking & Custody Information
What happens at the facility after an arrest — from booking to release. For step-by-step help with the county's custody list, see our Isanti County inmate search guide.
Arrest & Jail Booking
An arrest doesn't automatically mean someone has been fully booked into Isanti County Jail. Booking takes time, and no booking time is guaranteed. Booking is not a conviction.
- Identity verification.
- Identification records.
- Custody screening.
- Administrative processing.
- Release or holding decisions.
Confirming Someone Is in Custody
The Sheriff's Office publishes an In Custody page with its custody list embedded. It's a government resource, not a GPS database. If you can't find someone or aren't sure it's them, call Jail Master Control.
Read our inmate search guide →Booking Records vs. Court Records
Custody information shows whether someone is reported as held at the jail. Court records cover criminal cases, hearings and other public court information. A past court record doesn't mean someone is in jail now, and a custody listing doesn't mean guilt.
Other Agency Holds & Custody Status
Custody and release can depend on more than one case or agency. Someone at the jail may be held for another authority, and not every hold can be resolved with an Isanti County bail bond.
- Another law-enforcement agency.
- Outstanding warrants.
- Transfers.
- Other authorized holds.
- Different custody arrangements.
Transfers & Custody Changes
Jail Master Control: 763-689-2397
A person can be released, transferred, held by another authority or moved through another custody process, and the public list can change. For current custody, use the county's In Custody list or call the jail.
Release Authorization & Processing
Release can require satisfying court orders, bail conditions and custody processing, and the jail completes its own release steps. No release time is guaranteed, and an accepted bond doesn't clear unrelated holds.
What If Someone Is Not Listed at Isanti County Jail?
Not finding a name on the county's In Custody list doesn't prove the person was never arrested. Common reasons include:
- The booking hasn't appeared publicly yet.
- The person was cited and released.
- The person has already been released.
- Another agency or facility has custody.
- The person was transferred.
- Public-record restrictions apply.
Check the In Custody list again, call the jail, or contact GPS and we'll help you work out where to check next.

04 · Inmate services
Isanti County Jail Inmate Services & Resources
Practical information about money, mail, property and programs at Isanti County Jail. Each has its own rules and providers, and none of them is a way to pay bail.
Commissary & Inmate Accounts
The jail keeps an account for each inmate that pays for permitted purchases and expenses, such as:
- Commissary items.
- Phone time.
- Messaging.
- Other permitted needs.
- The county says fees an inmate owes are taken out first.
- An inmate account is separate from criminal bail.

- Cash transaction fee: $2.

Sending Mail & Correspondence
Jail Master Control: 763-689-2397
Inmate mail is subject to the jail's security and delivery rules. The county doesn't post detailed mail instructions online, so confirm the exact mailing address and rules with jail staff before you send anything.
Property & Personal Items
Personal property, clothing, medication, eyeglasses, documents and property release all follow the jail's current rules. Don't bring or collect items without permission — ask jail staff for current instructions first.
Medical Needs, Accessibility & Safety
Accessibility coordinator: 763-689-2141
Raise medical needs, safety concerns and accommodation requests with jail staff. The county says it provides free sign-language and oral interpreters, TTYs and other aids for deaf and hard-of-hearing inmates, through its Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Coordinator.
- For an immediate emergency, call 911.
Work Release, Education & Programs
The Sheriff's Office runs a Work Release program alongside the jail, and the jail offers voluntary programs including GED classes, chemical-dependency treatment, AA and NA meetings, and nondenominational religious services.
- Eligibility depends on the court, supervision rules and jail approval.
- Some programs are for sentenced people, not people awaiting trial.
- No program replaces bail.
- Confirm current program rules and any fees with the jail.

05 · Bail & release
Posting Bail at Isanti County Jail
In Minnesota, the court sets bail and release conditions, and Minnesota Statutes Chapter 60M governs commercial bond premiums. Isanti County doesn't publish a complete cash-bail payment procedure online, so confirm the details for each case before you travel.
Court-Set Bail & Release Conditions
The court or other lawful authority decides bail and release conditions. Some people are released without a financial bond; others must meet court-set conditions. GPS can't set bail or change a court order, and not every arrest leads to a commercial surety-bond option.
Where to Confirm Direct Cash Bail
Before you try to post direct cash bail, confirm with the jail or the court:Whether bail has been set.The current amount.Any release conditions.Where to pay.Which payment methods are accepted.Any holds or restrictions.Jail Master Control: 763-689-2397 — confirm the payment location and methods before you go.
Cash Bail vs. Commercial Surety Bonds
These are different things:Cash bail — money paid through the court's or jail's authorized process.Surety bond — an approved bond backed by a licensed surety.Bond premium — the charge for that surety service under the filed rate.Collateral — separate security, when required.A Stellar inmate-account deposit is not cash bail, and its fees aren't bond premiums.
Bond Processing, Release & Other Holds
When a surety bond is allowed, GPS can explain the premium, documents, cosigner obligations, permitted payment arrangements and any collateral. The jail still completes release processing, and an accepted bond doesn't guarantee immediate release — other court orders, holds, warrants or agency requirements can affect it.
Before You Go to Isanti County Jail to Post Bail
General information only — the jail and the court make every custody and release decision.
- Confirm the person's actual custody status.
- Confirm the court-set bail amount.
- Review the current release conditions.
- Find out whether cash bail or a permitted surety bond applies.
- Verify the payment location, methods and required documents.
- Remember that release timing can't be guaranteed.
Minnesota Bond Premium Rules
- The court sets the bail amount — not the jail and not GPS.
- The premium follows the rate the surety has filed and had approved in Minnesota.
- The statutory minimum premium is $100.
- Bonds of $10,000 or less: at least 50% of the premium is collected before posting; any balance is repaid within four months.
- Bonds over $10,000: at least 30% of the premium is collected before posting; any balance is repaid within at most 12 months.
- Any balance needs a signed promissory note. No financing or payment plan is guaranteed.
- Collateral and cosigner requirements depend on the circumstances.
