Before you sign, we go over the court-set bail amount, filed surety rates, the minimum collected before posting, your receipts and every agreement and obligation.

Eligible Surety Bond Assistance
When the court authorizes a bond and underwriting is satisfied, GPS can discuss surety options. A cosigner or collateral may be required, and no bond or payment plan is pre-approved.

Step 6 of 6
Post the Bond and Follow Court Orders
Bond acceptance and jail release processing take varying time, and another hold can delay release. After release, every court appearance and condition must be followed.
Statewide GPS guides Kimball families can use when looking into bail for a Stearns County case. The cards are listed in a fixed order, not by how often a charge occurs locally.
Not every charge is eligible for bail, and no amounts are guaranteed — the court decides in each case.
05 · Costs
What Bail Bonds Cost in Kimball
Kimball does not have a separate city bail bond premium schedule. Stearns County District Court determines monetary bail and release conditions, while Minnesota's filed-rate and statutory rules govern commercial surety premiums statewide.
Court-Set Bail vs. Bond Premium
The court sets the bail amount. Paying it directly in cash is one option. A surety bond instead costs a premium — a fee paid to the bail bond agency that is not returned at the end of the case. Minnesota Criminal Procedure Rule 6 ↗ (opens an external site)
Filed Surety Rates & Minimum Upfront Payment
Under Minn. Stat. §60M.02, premiums follow rates filed with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Bonds of $10,000 or less require at least 50% of the premium collected before posting; bonds greater than $10,000 require at least 30% collected before posting. Any unpaid premium balance requires the applicable approved, signed promissory note and the statutory repayment terms. The statutory minimum premium remains $100. Minnesota §60M.02 — Bail Bond Premiums ↗ (opens an external site)
Promissory Note & Repayment
Any unpaid premium balance is put in writing, with a payment schedule and any allowed interest. The signer is responsible for that balance regardless of how the case ends. The same §60M.02 rules above govern premium payment.
Use the court-set bond amount from the jail or court.
Estimates are for informational purposes only and are not a binding quote or financing offer. Actual premiums are based on the applicable approved surety rate. Payment arrangements depend on eligibility, underwriting, and Minnesota law. Call GPS Bail Bonds for a case-specific quote.

Kimball Jails & Custody Information
Kimball has no police department, jail or criminal court of its own. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement; people held for court are generally booked into Stearns County Jail in St. Cloud, and cases go to Stearns County District Court there — confirm current custody and release terms through official sources.
Kimball City Hall (weekday hours vary)1 Main Street NorthKimball, MN 55353320-398-2725
Kimball's city website says the city has contracted with the Sheriff for police services since February 19, 2020; there is no current Kimball police department or station. That older city page lists 320‑259‑3700, which is the Sheriff's Records Division — the county lists 320‑251‑4240 as non-emergency. City Hall handles municipal business only — not arrests, jail or criminal bail.
The principal county custody resource for Kimball arrests, located in St. Cloud. Operated by the Stearns County Sheriff's Office on Courthouse Square. The county's current-inmate roster lists adults presently recorded in custody.
Handles criminal and traffic matters filed in Stearns County, including applicable Kimball cases. The two Courthouse Square addresses are service locations of one district court, not two courts — confirm the assigned hearing location with the court. Judges determine bail or release conditions; GPS does not set bail amounts or hearing schedules.
Start with the Sheriff's non-emergency dispatch at 320‑251‑4240 — not City Hall — and search the person by name on the Stearns County current-inmate roster. If they aren't listed, call jail central control. Records Division (320‑259‑3700) handles records requests, not live dispatch.

An arrest and a jail booking are different events. Booking at Stearns County Jail involves identification, photographs and records processing, so a recent arrest may not appear on the roster right away. A citation or summons does not automatically mean someone was booked.
03
Official Inmate Search
Stearns County's inmate and warrant search page links the current-inmate roster, which shows adults presently recorded in custody. It is not an arrest log, a warrant system or a court record, and it may not update the moment someone is booked or released. GPS is independent of it and cannot change it.
Stearns County District Court may release someone without monetary bail, on conditions, with money bail, or a combination. Conditions such as no-contact or no-alcohol terms still apply after a bond is posted.
05
Cash Bail vs. Surety Bond
Cash bail paid directly as the court authorizes is different from a surety premium paid to a bail bond agency, which is not returned. Confirm the bail amount, conditions and payment rules with the facility actually holding the person. Those procedures do not define how GPS accepts payment.
A warrant, probation matter or other legal hold can keep someone in custody even after bail is posted on the Kimball case, and one bond does not clear every hold. See our Warrant and Probation Violation guides.

Kimball is a small city in southern Stearns County, ZIP 55353, where Minnesota Highway 15 runs north–south through town and meets Highway 55 — routes that connect it toward St. Cloud to the north and along Highway 55 toward Eden Valley and South Haven.
Willow Creek Park, at 210 Main Street South, covers 22.5 acres south of the railroad tracks beside Highway 15 and Maine Prairie Township. It has a ball field, the enclosed Kimball Lions shelter, a lighted hockey and broomball rink, a nine-hole disc golf course, a playground and nature trails along Willow Creek, a DNR-stocked trout stream.
The community traces its roots to Maine Prairie, a village started in 1856 by settlers from Maine near the north end of Lake Carnelian, about five miles north of today's Kimball. A historical marker now stands at that original site.
In 1886 the Soo Line Railroad bypassed Maine Prairie in favor of Kimball Prairie. Most of the old village's buildings were moved to the railroad town, which grew as a passenger and freight stop and is known today simply as Kimball. Its 1908 town hall is on the National Register.
Kimball contracted with the Stearns County Sheriff's Office for police services effective February 19, 2020, so there is no longer a city police department. For non-emergency matters, the county lists Sheriff's dispatch at 320-251-4240; City Hall, at 1 Main Street North, handles city business.
Policing comes from the county, and so do custody and court: people held for court go to Stearns County Jail, and cases are heard in Stearns County District Court — both on Courthouse Square in St. Cloud, not in Kimball.
