South Haven Bail Bonds Guide

01 · Why GPS

Why Choose GPS in South Haven

Help for a small western Wright County city whose mailing area stretches into other townships and counties.

  • South Haven Area Bail Assistance

A South Haven address doesn't always mean the City of South Haven — or even Wright County. GPS helps families confirm where the arrest happened before choosing a jail or court.

  • Available 24/7

Call (763) 288-2581 or send the form any time. City, court and county offices keep business hours, so some steps may wait until they open.

  • Sheriff, Jail and Court Guidance

The Wright County Sheriff's Office serves the city. We explain how a deputy's response relates to the actual custody location and court.

  • Clear Premium and Paperwork Guidance

We walk through court-set bail versus a surety premium, the indemnity agreement and cosigner responsibilities before anything is signed.

  • Eligible Surety Bond Assistance

When the court authorizes a bond and underwriting requirements are met, GPS can discuss surety options. Not every case qualifies, and GPS does not set bail.

  • Minnesota Statewide Coverage

If the arrest turns out to be in a neighboring county, GPS can help with that county's jail and court too.

02 · Bail process

How Bail Bonds Work in South Haven

The usual path after a South Haven-area arrest. Every case is different; the court makes the decisions and no release time is guaranteed.

  1. 01

    Step 1 of 6

Arrest or Citation in the South Haven Area

Wright County Sheriff's deputies serve the city. Outside city limits — including parts of the South Haven mailing area — a different agency or county may respond. The result may be a citation, a summons, or an arrest.

  2. 02

    Step 2 of 6

Confirm the Agency, County and Custody Facility

Find out which agency made the arrest and in which county. If it was in Wright County and the person was booked, check the Sheriff's jail reports or call 763-684-2381.

  3. 03

    Step 3 of 6

    Verify Court-Set Bail and Conditions

For Wright County cases, Wright County District Court in Buffalo decides whether money bail applies and what conditions are attached. Another county's case goes to that county's court.

  4. 04

    Step 4 of 6

    Contact GPS About Bond Options

Once custody and the court's terms are known, GPS can explain whether an authorized surety bond is available.

  5. 05

    Step 5 of 6

    Complete Bond Requirements

Expect the approved premium, identification, a signed indemnity agreement and, where required, a cosigner, collateral and underwriting review.

  6. 06

    Step 6 of 6

Post the Bond and Follow the Court

When approved, the bond is posted under the applicable procedure. Jail processing or holds can delay release. Every court date and condition must still be followed.

Bail Bond Services in South Haven

Each statewide GPS guide explains how bail works for that charge in Minnesota, wherever in the state the arrest happened.

Not every charge is eligible for bail, and no amounts are guaranteed — the court decides in each case.

05 · Costs

What Bail Bonds Cost in South Haven

South Haven does not have a separate city bail bond premium schedule. Wright County District Court determines monetary bail and release conditions, while Minnesota's filed-rate and statutory rules govern commercial surety premiums statewide.

Court-Set Bail vs. Bond Premium

The court sets the bail amount. Paying it directly in cash is one option. A surety bond instead costs a premium — a fee paid to the bail bond agency that is not returned at the end of the case.
Minnesota Criminal Procedure Rule 6 (opens an external site)

Filed Surety Rates & Minimum Upfront Payment

Under Minn. Stat. §60M.02, premiums follow rates filed with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Bonds of $10,000 or less require at least 50% of the premium collected before posting; bonds greater than $10,000 require at least 30% collected before posting. Any unpaid premium balance requires the applicable approved, signed promissory note and the statutory repayment terms. The statutory minimum premium remains $100.
Minnesota §60M.02 — Bail Bond Premiums (opens an external site)

Promissory Note & Repayment

Any unpaid premium balance is put in writing, with a payment schedule and any allowed interest. The signer is responsible for that balance regardless of how the case ends. The same §60M.02 rules above govern premium payment.

Collateral & Cosigner Responsibilities

Some bonds require collateral or a cosigner. Minn. Stat. §60M.03 governs how collateral is held and returned. A cosigner may owe the full bond if the defendant misses court.

06 · Jails & custody

South Haven Jails & Custody Information

The City of South Haven is served by the Wright County Sheriff's Office and has no jail or criminal courtroom. If the arrest was in Wright County, the jail and court are in Buffalo — but a South Haven mailing address can be in another county.

South Haven's own website confirms that the Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement in the city; there is no South Haven police department. Outside city limits another agency may respond, and a deputy's response doesn't by itself tell you where someone is held. In an emergency, call 911.

  • Locating a South Haven Arrestee

First confirm the county of arrest. For Wright County, check the Sheriff's Jail Census, then call the jail. If the arrest was outside Wright County, check that county's official inmate resources.

  • County Jail Booking

Booking at Wright County Jail involves identification, photographs and records processing, so a recent arrest may not show up in jail reports right away. A citation or summons does not automatically mean someone was booked.

  • Official Inmate Search

The Sheriff's jail page links the Jail Census (people currently held), the Jail Media Report (recent bookings — some may already be released), weekly booking data and the in-custody court calendar. They are different records and are not refreshed continuously. GPS is independent of them and cannot change them.

  • Bail and Release Conditions

Wright County District Court may release someone on conditions, set money bail, or both. Conditions such as no-contact or no-alcohol terms still apply after a bond is posted.

  • Cash Bail vs. Surety Bond

Cash bail paid to the county is different from a surety premium paid to GPS. The Sheriff's FAQ says to confirm the bail amount and conditions first; direct cash bail is handled through Wright County Jail reception by jail staff. That procedure does not define how GPS accepts payment.

  • Probation and Other Holds

A probation hold, warrant or another county's case can keep someone in custody after bail is posted. See our Warrant and Probation Violation guides.

  • Court dates

    Court Appearance Information

Wright County District Court handles cases filed within its jurisdiction and decides bail or conditions of release. Some case details and hearing dates can be checked through Minnesota Court Records Online, but not every hearing appears publicly, and MCRO is not a jail roster or a complete live warrant check. Court records are separate from jail custody information. Release paperwork lists the next court date — every appearance is required. Public court calendars can change, so confirm the person's required appearance directly with the court.

08 · Charges

Common Bail Bond Charge Types

Charge types families often ask about. This is not a local frequency ranking, and there is no South Haven-specific bail schedule — bail is set by the court.

09 · About

About South Haven, Minnesota

  • South Haven is a small incorporated city on Minnesota State Highway 55 in western Wright County.
  • It lies between Annandale and Kimball, in a rural area with nearby lakes.
  • The city's own website explains that the South Haven postal mailing area extends into multiple counties and townships.
  • That postal area is larger than the incorporated city — a South Haven ZIP code doesn't establish the county of arrest.
  • The Wright County Sheriff's Office serves the city; City Hall handles municipal business and has no jail or criminal courtroom.
