Waverly Bail Bonds Guide

01 · Why GPS

Why Choose GPS in Waverly

Help for a small lakeside city in western Wright County, policed by Sheriff's deputies under contract, with the jail and court in Buffalo.

  • Waverly Area Bail Assistance

Waverly has no jail or courthouse of its own. GPS helps families connect a Waverly arrest to the right Wright County custody records and the District Court in Buffalo, without guessing.

  • Available 24/7

Call (763) 288-2581 or send the form any time. City, court and some county offices keep business hours, so certain steps may wait until they open.

  • Police, Jail and Court Guidance

Sheriff's deputies respond in Waverly under a city contract, the Sheriff's Office runs the county jail, and Wright County District Court sets release terms. We explain which one answers which question.

  • Clear Premium and Paperwork Guidance

We explain the difference between court-set bail and a surety premium, and walk through receipts, the indemnity agreement and cosigner paperwork before anything is signed.

  • Eligible Surety Bond Assistance

When the court authorizes a bond and underwriting requirements are met, GPS can discuss surety options. Not every case qualifies, and GPS does not set bail.

  • Minnesota Statewide Coverage

GPS works by phone and online across Minnesota and has no Waverly office. If a hold or case is in another county, we can help with that jail and court too.

02 · Bail process

How Bail Bonds Work in Waverly

The usual path after a Waverly arrest. Every case is different; the court makes the decisions and no release time is guaranteed.

  1. 01

    Step 1 of 6

    Arrest or Citation in Waverly

Waverly contracts with the Wright County Sheriff's Office, so deputies usually respond in town. An incident can end in a citation, a summons or an arrest — and only an arrest usually leads to booking.

  2. 02

    Step 2 of 6

Confirm the Agency and Custody Facility

A Waverly arrest does not prove someone is in Wright County Jail. Check the Sheriff's jail reports or call the jail at 763-684-2381 to confirm where they are held.

  3. 03

    Step 3 of 6

    Verify Court-Set Bail and Conditions

Wright County District Court in Buffalo decides whether money bail applies and what financial or nonfinancial conditions attach. Deputies and City Hall do not set bail.

  4. 04

    Step 4 of 6

    Contact GPS About Bond Options

Once custody and the court's terms are known, call GPS at 763-288-2581 to learn whether an authorized surety bond is available.

  5. 05

    Step 5 of 6

    Complete Bond Requirements

Expect the approved premium, identification, a signed indemnity agreement and, where required, a cosigner, collateral and underwriting review.

  6. 06

    Step 6 of 6

Post the Bond and Follow the Court

When approved, the bond is posted under the applicable procedure. Jail processing or holds can delay release, and every court date and condition remains mandatory.

Bail Bond Services in Waverly

These are statewide GPS guides to common questions after a local arrest — not a ranking of Waverly crime. Whether a surety bond is available depends on the case and the court.

Not every charge is eligible for bail, and no amounts are guaranteed — the court decides in each case.

05 · Costs

What Bail Bonds Cost in Waverly

Waverly does not have a separate city bail bond premium schedule. Wright County District Court determines monetary bail and release conditions, while Minnesota's filed-rate and statutory rules govern commercial surety premiums statewide.

Court-Set Bail vs. Bond Premium

The court sets the bail amount. Paying it directly in cash is one option. A surety bond instead costs a premium — a fee paid to the bail bond agency that is not returned at the end of the case.
Minnesota Criminal Procedure Rule 6 (opens an external site)

Filed Surety Rates & Minimum Upfront Payment

Under Minn. Stat. §60M.02, premiums follow rates filed with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Bonds of $10,000 or less require at least 50% of the premium collected before posting; bonds greater than $10,000 require at least 30% collected before posting. Any unpaid premium balance requires the applicable approved, signed promissory note and the statutory repayment terms. The statutory minimum premium remains $100.
Minnesota §60M.02 — Bail Bond Premiums (opens an external site)

Promissory Note & Repayment

Any unpaid premium balance is put in writing, with a payment schedule and any allowed interest. The signer is responsible for that balance regardless of how the case ends. The same §60M.02 rules above govern premium payment.

Collateral & Cosigner Responsibilities

Some bonds require collateral or a cosigner. Minn. Stat. §60M.03 governs how collateral is held and returned. A cosigner may owe the full bond if the defendant misses court.

06 · Jails & custody

Waverly Jails & Custody Information

Waverly has no police department or jail of its own. The Wright County Sheriff's Office provides contract law enforcement, and the county jail and District Court are in Buffalo — each with a separate role.

  • Locating a Waverly Arrestee

Check the Sheriff's Jail Census first, then call the jail. Booking entries can take time to appear, and Waverly City Hall can't confirm custody.

  • County Jail Booking

Booking at Wright County Jail involves identification, photographs and records processing, so a recent arrest may not show up in jail reports right away. A citation or summons does not automatically mean someone was booked.

  • Official Inmate Search

The Sheriff's jail page links the Jail Census (people currently held), the Jail Media Report (recent bookings — some may already be released), weekly booking data and the in-custody court calendar. They are different records and are not refreshed continuously. GPS is independent of them and cannot change them.

  • Bail and Release Conditions

Wright County District Court may release someone on conditions, set money bail, or both. Conditions such as no-contact or no-alcohol terms still apply after a bond is posted.

  • Cash Bail vs. Surety Bond

Cash bail paid to the county is different from a surety premium paid to GPS. The Sheriff's FAQ says to confirm the bail amount and conditions first; direct cash bail is handled through Wright County Jail reception by jail staff. That procedure does not define how GPS accepts payment.

  • Probation and Other Holds

A probation hold, warrant or another agency's case can keep someone in custody after bail is posted on the Waverly case. See our Warrant and Probation Violation guides.

  • Court dates

    Court Appearance Information

Wright County District Court handles cases filed within its jurisdiction and decides bail or conditions of release. Some case details and hearing dates can be checked through Minnesota Court Records Online, but not every hearing appears publicly, and MCRO is not a jail roster or a complete live warrant check. Court records are separate from jail custody information. Release paperwork lists the next court date — every appearance is required. Public court calendars can change, so confirm the person's required appearance directly with the court.
