01 · Why GPS

Why Choose GPS in Holdingford

Help for a northern Stearns County city served by the county Sheriff, with jail and court resources in St. Cloud.

  • Holdingford Bail Assistance

  • Available 24/7

  • Sheriff, Jail & Court Guidance

Sheriff's deputies handle law enforcement, Stearns County Jail handles custody, and Stearns County District Court decides bail. They belong to one county but do different jobs — we explain which one to contact.

  • Clear Premium & Paperwork Guidance

We go through court-set bail, filed surety rates, minimum collection before posting, receipts and every signed agreement and obligation before you commit.

  • Eligible Surety Bond Assistance

If the court authorizes a bond and underwriting is met, GPS can discuss surety options and qualifying payment terms. A cosigner or collateral may be required; nothing is pre-approved.

  • Minnesota Statewide Coverage

Stearns County or anywhere else in Minnesota — GPS can help with the jail and court involved. GPS has no office in Holdingford.

02 · Bail process

How Bail Bonds Work in Holdingford

The usual path after a Holdingford arrest. Every case is different; the court makes the decisions and no release time is guaranteed.

  1. 01

    Step 1 of 6

    Arrest or Citation in Holdingford

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement in Holdingford, though another authorized agency, such as the State Patrol, may also make an arrest. Not every encounter results in jail custody.

  2. 02

    Step 2 of 6

    Confirm Custody and Booking

If someone was taken into custody, check the Stearns County current-inmate roster. A recent arrest may not show in booking records yet, and some people are cited and released without booking.

  3. 03

    Step 3 of 6

    Verify Court-Set Bail and Conditions

Stearns County District Court controls release terms. Not every defendant is assigned money bail — a judge may set conditions, bail or both. Confirm the terms through the court or another authorized source.

  4. 04

    Step 4 of 6

    Contact GPS About Bond Options

Call (763) 288-2581. Share whatever identification, custody or case details you have, and GPS can explain whether an authorized surety bond may be possible. Approval is not promised.

  5. 05

    Step 5 of 6

    Complete Premium, Paperwork & Underwriting

Identification, signed agreements, the approved premium with a receipt and, where required, a cosigner, collateral and underwriting review.

  6. 06

    Step 6 of 6

Post the Bond and Follow Court Orders

Bond acceptance and release processing vary, and another hold can delay release. After release, every court appearance and release condition must be followed.

Not every charge is eligible for bail, and no amounts are guaranteed — the court decides in each case.

05 · Costs

What Bail Bonds Cost in Holdingford

Holdingford does not have a separate city bail bond premium schedule. Stearns County District Court determines monetary bail and release conditions, while Minnesota's filed-rate and statutory rules govern commercial surety premiums statewide.

Court-Set Bail vs. Bond Premium

The court sets the bail amount. Paying it directly in cash is one option. A surety bond instead costs a premium — a fee paid to the bail bond agency that is not returned at the end of the case.
Minnesota Criminal Procedure Rule 6 (opens an external site)

Filed Surety Rates & Minimum Upfront Payment

Under Minn. Stat. §60M.02, premiums follow rates filed with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Bonds of $10,000 or less require at least 50% of the premium collected before posting; bonds greater than $10,000 require at least 30% collected before posting. Any unpaid premium balance requires the applicable approved, signed promissory note and the statutory repayment terms. The statutory minimum premium remains $100.
Minnesota §60M.02 — Bail Bond Premiums (opens an external site)

Promissory Note & Repayment

Any unpaid premium balance is put in writing, with a payment schedule and any allowed interest. The signer is responsible for that balance regardless of how the case ends. The same §60M.02 rules above govern premium payment.

Collateral & Cosigner Responsibilities

Some bonds require collateral or a cosigner. Minn. Stat. §60M.03 governs how collateral is held and returned. A cosigner may owe the full bond if the defendant misses court.

Holdingford Jails & Custody Information

The Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement in Holdingford, and the city also contracts for deputies assigned at scheduled times for extra patrol — not a dedicated around-the-clock city force. There is no Holdingford police department or station. City Center handles municipal business only, not arrests, jail or criminal bail. The Records Division (320‑259‑3700) is not the dispatch line.

  • Locating a Holdingford Arrestee

Identify the arresting agency — usually the Stearns County Sheriff's Office — and check county records, not City Center. Search the Stearns County current-inmate roster by name; if the person isn't listed, call jail central control.

Stearns County Jail central control (24/7): 320-259-3760

  • County Jail Booking

An arrest and a jail booking are different events. Booking at Stearns County Jail involves identification, photographs and records processing, so a recent arrest may not appear on the roster right away. A citation or summons does not automatically mean someone was booked.

  • Official Inmate Search

Stearns County's inmate and warrant search page links the current-inmate roster, which shows adults presently recorded in custody. It is not an arrest log, a warrant system or a court record, and it may not update the moment someone is booked or released. GPS is independent of it and cannot change it.

  • Bail and Release Conditions

Stearns County District Court may release someone without monetary bail, on conditions, with money bail, or a combination. Conditions such as no-contact or no-alcohol terms still apply after a bond is posted.

  • Cash Bail vs. Surety Bond

Cash bail paid directly as the court authorizes is different from a surety premium paid to a bail bond agency, which is not returned. Confirm the bail amount, conditions and payment rules with the facility actually holding the person. Those procedures do not define how GPS accepts payment.

  • Probation and Other Holds

Another case, a warrant or a probation-related hold can keep someone in custody even after bail is posted on the Holdingford matter, and a bond does not resolve every hold. See our Warrant and Probation Violation guides.

  • Court dates

    Court Appearance Information

Stearns County District Court, part of the Seventh Judicial District, handles criminal cases filed in Stearns County, including applicable Holdingford cases. Criminal and traffic matters use 815 Courthouse Square; civil, family, juvenile and jury services use 725 Courthouse Square. Confirm the actual filing and assigned hearing location from current case information. Court calendars can change, and Minnesota Court Records Online is not the live jail roster. Failing to appear or follow release conditions can lead to a warrant or revoked release. Official court paperwork controls.

09 · About

About Holdingford, Minnesota

  • Holdingford is a small city in northern Stearns County, ZIP 56340, surrounded by Holding Township. The city and the township are separate local governments with different boundaries — City Center at 420 Main Street serves the city.
  • The town grew at a ford on the South Two Rivers River, where pioneer Randolph Holding homesteaded in 1868 and opened a general store. Holding and the Wardeville townsite across the river combined as Holdingford in 1896, and a 1919 concrete bridge helped make it a regional trading center.
  • The Soo Line Railroad was built through Holdingford in 1907–09. Its former corridor now carries the Lake Wobegon Trail, which runs north from Albany through Holdingford toward Morrison County; the village name was formally changed from Holding to Holdingford in 1930.
  • At Lake Wobegon Trailhead Park, visitors find wooden train cars, a boxcar mural, petrified wood and a bike fix-it station. A few blocks south on the trail is what the city calls Minnesota's longest covered bridge, the start of a 10.5-mile Bridge-to-Bridge ride to Blanchard Dam.
  • Veterans Memorial Park, at the south end of Main Street, has a campground, shelter, playground, volleyball courts and the Cyril Ebnet Ball Field. The fieldstone Soldier's Shrine, dedicated in 1942 across from St. Hedwig's Church, is described by the city as the nation's first shrine honoring those who served in World War II.
  • The Stearns County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement, with contracted extra patrol hours; non-emergency dispatch is 320-251-4240. Custody runs through Stearns County Jail and cases go to Stearns County District Court — both in St. Cloud, not in Holdingford.
